Staying informed about recent vehicle recalls is essential for driver safety and vehicle longevity. Owners of Ram Trucks should take note, as several safety notices and service campaigns have been issued by Stellantis (FCA US LLC) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

These safety actions cover a wide selection of popular models, ranging from light-duty pickups to commercial vans. Drivers everywhere need to understand what these issues involve and how to fix them promptly.

ProMaster Power Steering Concerns

One of the largest actions affects over 265,000 commercial vans, including 2022–2026 ProMaster models. Water can seep into the electrical wiring harness for the power steering system. This moisture causes electrical shorts, leading to a sudden loss of steering assist while driving.

A sudden loss of assist requires significantly higher effort to turn, raising crash risks. Authorized dealerships are inspecting these vehicles and replacing the wiring harness with an updated water-sealed assembly at no cost to owners.

Tire Pressure Monitoring and Airbag Glitches

Recent notices targeting the popular 2025–2026 Ram Trucks 1500 lineup address safety hardware components. More than 16,000 pickup trucks are affected because of defective tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors that do not provide correct tire pressure alerts. Additionally, a secondary campaign covers incomplete electrical connections between seat wiring harnesses and side airbags.

Left unchecked, a loose connection might prevent airbag deployment during an impact. Technicians will replace faulty TPMS sensors or properly secure airbag wiring harness connections free of charge.

Software Updates for Backup Cameras and Screens

Software issues have led to safety recalls affecting several Ram Truck models. Models including the 1500, 2500, 3500, and heavy-duty chassis cabs are experiencing display screen blackouts. When the central dashboard radio or instrument display fails to boot up correctly, crucial safety equipment—such as the rearview camera image, gear indicators, and brake warning lights—becomes unavailable.

Stellantis is fixing these display glitches through simple software reflashing at dealerships or via Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.

Checking Second-Row Seat Belt Anchors

Safety compliance checks identified potential mounting defects on select Ram Trucks 1500 models built between 2019 and 2026. Inspections revealed that left-side and center second-row seat belt buckle anchors may not have been properly secured to the body structure during assembly.

Improperly anchored seat belts cannot offer maximum protection during sudden braking or heavy collisions. Dealers will inspect rear seating rows and securely re-anchor suspect buckle assemblies to safeguard passengers.

Resolving Headlight and DRL Flickering Issues

Some 2026 Ram Truck models have been recalled because of issues with their lighting systems. Faulty wiring components can cause daytime running lights (DRLs) and front parking lamps to flicker or turn off unexpectedly.

Reduced front visibility makes it harder for oncoming traffic to spot the vehicle, creating additional hazard risks on open roads. Dealership service centers will inspect headlight wiring assemblies and replace any defective light units entirely free of charge.

Simple Steps to Check Your Vehicle

Staying proactive ensures your vehicle remains safe and reliable on every drive. If you own Ram Trucks, following these quick steps can help you verify your recall status and schedule necessary repairs:

Locate Your VIN: Find your unique 17-character Vehicle Identification Number on your registration card or dashboard corner.

Search Official Portals: Enter your VIN into the NHTSA Safety Tool or official manufacturer portal to see open campaigns.

Contact Customer Support: Call Chrysler/FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403 to confirm repair availability and schedule a free dealership appointment.

How to Schedule a Free Recall Repair?

Verify Your Recall Status:

Grab your 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which can be found on the driver’s side dashboard (visible through the windshield) or on your registration card.

Confirm open recalls using the official NHTSA Recall Lookup Tool or the Official Mopar Recall Portal.

Contact an Authorized Ram Dealership

Call the service department of any authorized Ram/Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership, or book directly online through the dealer's service portal.

Important Note: Only authorized dealers can perform official recall repairs to update manufacturer database records. Authorized recall notices cannot be cleared by independent mechanics.

Confirm Parts Availability

When scheduling, provide your VIN and the specific recall campaign number so the service advisor can verify that necessary replacement parts (e.g., wiring harnesses, seat belt anchors, or TPMS sensors) are currently in stock.

What to Expect During the Service?

Cost: The repair is 100% free of charge. Federal law mandates that automakers cover both parts and labor for safety recall fixes.

Documentation: You do not need to bring paper recall notices; the dealership can pull up all open campaigns using your VIN.

Service Duration

Software Updates (Rearview Camera/Screen Flashing): Usually takes 30 minutes to 1 hour. Many software patches can also be delivered automatically via Over-the-Air (OTA) updates without visiting a shop.

Hardware Repairs (Wiring, Seat Belts, TPMS): Typically takes 1 to 3 hours, depending on shop scheduling.

Transportation: If your repairs will take a long time, check with your service advisor beforehand to see if the dealership offers loaner cars, shuttle service, or rideshare credits.

Completion Record: Upon completion, the dealer will update Stellantis' national database to clear the recall notice from your VIN history and provide you with a paper service receipt for your records.
