Google’s Gemini AI 4.0 Argon targets complex AI workloads with deeper reasoning, advanced coding, enterprise tools and powerful cybersecurity capabilities...
Google has introduced Gemini AI 4.0 Argon, a new frontier AI model designed for complex, long horizon tasks across software engineering, enterprise knowledge work and cybersecurity. Google says the model is built to maintain deep reasoning across tasks that may require many steps instead of producing a quick response.
Key Features
- 1 million token output
- Advanced long horizon reasoning
- Real world coding
- Enterprise knowledge workflows
- Cybersecurity vulnerability detection
- Automated vulnerability patching
- Multimodal understanding
- Strong prompt injection defenses
- Misalignment monitoring
- Fairwind Program access
- $2 input pricing
- $10 output pricing
Gemini 4.0 Argon Starts With Limited Access
Gemini AI 4.0 Argon is initially rolling out to trusted cyber defenders through Google's Fairwind Program. Google is taking a phased approach because of the model's advanced capabilities and potential risks.
The company is also participating in the U.S. government's voluntary pre release model access process. Feedback from early testers will help Google improve its safeguards before Gemini 4 Argon reaches developers, enterprises and consumers.
Google says paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers will be among the first groups targeted for broader access.
Gemini 4.0 Argon Gets a 1 Million Token Output Limit
One of the biggest changes with Gemini 4 Argon is its output capacity. Google has expanded the limit to 1 million tokens, compared with 64,000 tokens previously.
This gives Gemini AI 4.0 Argon more room to reason through large projects, generate extensive solutions and maintain a single long trajectory for difficult problems. The goal is to make the model more useful for workflows that cannot be completed effectively through short interactions.
Google plans an introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Cached input tokens will receive a 95% discount. After the introductory period, pricing is set to increase to $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens.
Google Is Already Using Gemini 4.0 Argon
Google says thousands of employees are already using Gemini AI 4.0 Argon for specialized coding, research, writing and engineering work.
The model has also been used in quantum computing research. In one example, it helped optimize quantum subroutines and beat a published baseline by 40% in minutes.
Another project used Gemini AI 4.0 Argon agents to analyze data center memory telemetry. Google says the work freed more than 300 TiB of memory after deployment, with estimated total savings of 500 TiB to 1 PiB.
The model is also being used for large C and C++ to Rust migrations, ranging from smaller libraries to more than 800,000 lines of code in the Fuchsia Zircon kernel. These migrations still go through automated and manual audits, testing and reviews.
For Google's libgav1 video decoder, Gemini AI 4.0 Argon agents replaced 32,000 lines of SIMD code. The resulting Rust decoder reportedly runs 2.7 times faster than the existing Rust port while producing identical video output.
Strong Results Across Enterprise Workflows
Gemini AI 4.0 Argon is designed for coding, reasoning and multimodal work. Google says it achieved 77.9% on DeepSWE v1.1 for real world, long horizon software engineering.
The model also leads Google's cited Vals Index for economic impact across finance, coding, legal and tax work. It ranks first on Zapier's AutomationBench with a 51.3% score.
Its visual reasoning is another major focus. Gemini AI 4.0 Argon achieved 91.7% on LVBench, which measures long video understanding. It can analyze charts, process long videos and work across multiple documents.
Gemini 4.0 Argon Targets Cybersecurity Defense
Cybersecurity is a central part of Gemini 4 Argon. Google says the model can autonomously find, validate and patch critical software vulnerabilities.
Through the Fairwind Program, approved defenders can use Gemini 4.0 Argon for authorized defensive work. Google says the model ties for first on CWE Bench v1 with a 68% score. It has also shown stronger vulnerability discovery than Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber on Google's and Wiz's internal testing.
Wiz has already used the model through its Scan for Good initiative. In an early demonstration, Gemini 4 Argon reportedly identified a critical vulnerability in healthcare software that could expose sensitive personal information.
Google Strengthens Gemini 4.0 Argon Safety
Google is not releasing Gemini AI 4.0 Argon broadly yet. The company is strengthening protections against cyber and CBRN misuse while preserving legitimate dual use research.
Google also says Gemini AI 4.0 Argon has improved resistance to indirect prompt injection attacks. Its safety systems monitor reasoning and actions for possible misalignment and can stop execution when necessary.
Google is also hardening sandbox environments used for high risk training and evaluations. These measures are intended to provide stronger protection as AI agents become more capable.

Gemini 4.0 Argon Is Rolling Out Gradually
Gemini AI 4.0 Argon marks Google's push toward AI that can handle long, demanding professional workflows rather than isolated questions. Its combination of extended output, coding ability, multimodal understanding and cybersecurity capabilities gives it a broad target market.
For now, access remains limited to trusted testers and cyber defenders. Google says the next stage will begin with paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers before wider availability to developers, enterprises and consumers.
