Honda has officially introduced the new Honda NX500 E Clutch in India, bringing its electronic clutch technology to the middleweight adventure motorcycle segment. The updated model keeps the familiar NX500 design and touring character while adding a system that reduces the need for manual clutch operation during gear shifts and slow speed riding. The motorcycle has been launched at an ex showroom price of around ₹7.44 lakh across India.

Honda E Clutch System for Daily and Touring Use

The biggest update on the new NX500 is Honda’s E Clutch technology. The system automatically controls clutch engagement while starting, stopping, and shifting gears. Riders still use the gear lever normally, but the clutch lever no longer needs to be used every time during riding.

Honda says the setup is designed to reduce rider fatigue, especially in heavy traffic and long distance touring conditions. Riders who prefer a traditional experience can still operate the clutch manually whenever required.

Familiar Adventure Styling Continues

In terms of design, the NX500 largely remains unchanged from the earlier model. The motorcycle continues with its adventure touring appearance featuring a tall windscreen, muscular fuel tank, upright riding position, and compact rear section.

Honda is offering the motorcycle in Pearl Horizon White and Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic colour options. The overall bodywork has been designed for both highway comfort and light off road usability.

471cc Parallel Twin Engine Remains Unchanged

Powering the Honda NX500 E Clutch is the same 471cc liquid cooled parallel twin engine paired with a six speed gearbox. The engine produces around 47 bhp and 43 Nm of torque, focusing more on smooth power delivery and touring comfort than aggressive performance.

Honda has retained the existing engine tuning, which is known for balanced low and mid range performance. The motorcycle is suitable for city riding, highway cruising, and weekend touring.

Performance Focused Chassis and Suspension Setup

The motorcycle continues with a steel diamond frame along with Showa upside down front forks and a rear monoshock suspension setup. Honda has equipped the NX500 with a 19 inch front wheel and a 17 inch rear wheel, helping maintain stability on uneven roads and highway stretches.

The E Clutch system adds around 3 kg to the motorcycle’s total weight, taking the kerb weight close to 199 kg.

Braking and Safety Features

Honda has included dual front disc brakes and a rear disc brake setup with dual channel ABS as standard equipment. The motorcycle also gets Honda Selectable Torque Control, which helps improve traction during slippery riding conditions.

The company continues to position the NX500 as a practical adventure tourer with rider focused safety features rather than a feature heavy performance motorcycle.

TFT Display and Connectivity Features

The NX500 comes equipped with a 5 inch TFT colour display that supports Honda RoadSync connectivity. Riders can access smartphone notifications, navigation support, and call alerts directly through the display.

Honda has also retained full LED lighting, assist and slipper clutch support, and switchable traction control in the updated model.

Fuel Tank and Touring Capability

Honda continues to offer a large fuel tank on the NX500, making it suitable for long distance touring. The upright ergonomics and relaxed seating setup are expected to remain one of the strong points of the motorcycle for highway riders.

The bike is designed mainly for riders looking for a comfortable middleweight adventure motorcycle rather than a highly aggressive off road machine.

Price and Availability in India

The Honda NX500 E Clutch has been launched at ₹7.44 lakh ex showroom, making it more expensive than the standard clutch version by around ₹1.11 lakh. Bookings have already started through Honda BigWing dealerships across India, and deliveries are expected to begin soon.

The motorcycle competes with models such as the Kawasaki Versys 650 and BMW F 450 GS in the Indian adventure touring segment. Honda is expected to target riders looking for a mix of touring comfort, reliability, and easier everyday usability through its new E Clutch technology.
