KTM 390 Duke gets a massive ₹40,000 price hike in India, pushing its on-road cost beyond ₹4 lakh due to new GST rules.
KTM India has officially rolled out a significant price revision for its flagship streetfighter, the 390 Duke. The bike, which has long been the benchmark for performance in the sub-400cc segment, has seen its price tag jump by a substantial ₹40,000.
The New Price Tag
With this latest update, the ex-showroom price (Delhi) for the Gen 3 KTM 390 Duke now stands at approximately ₹3.39 lakh, up from its previous tag of ₹2.99 lakh.
What does this mean for your wallet? For the first time in its history, the 390 Duke’s on-road price will cross the ₹4 lakh mark in several major Indian cities.
Why the Massive Jump?
While price hikes are common in the industry, a ₹40,000 increase is rare. This move is driven almost entirely by the GST 2.0 reform implemented in late 2025.
Under the new tax structure, motorcycles with engine capacities exceeding 350cc are taxed at a steep 40% GST, compared to the earlier 31%. While Bajaj (KTM’s Indian partner) managed to absorb these costs for several months to protect consumers, the brand has finally passed the tax burden onto the buyer.

What is New on the Bike?
It is important to note that this is a price revision, not a facelift. The 390 Duke remains mechanically identical to the Gen 3 model launched recently. You still get:
The punchy 398.6cc liquid-cooled engine.
Adjustable WP Apex suspension.
The full-colour TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation.
Top-tier electronics like Launch Control and Cornering ABS.
A More Affordable KTM on the Horizon?
The price hike effectively pushes the 390 Duke into a premium bracket, leaving a gap in the mid-capacity segment. To address this, reports suggest KTM is working on a new sub-350cc variant.
By keeping the displacement just under 350cc, the bike would qualify for a significantly lower 18% GST rate. This would allow KTM to offer the Duke’s signature performance at a much more aggressive price point for budget-conscious enthusiasts.
The KTM 390 Duke remains a performance powerhouse, but the ₹4 lakh on-road barrier might make buyers consider rivals more closely. However, for those who crave the specific "Orange" adrenaline, the 390 Duke continues to offer a power-to-weight ratio that is hard to beat.
