WARDOGS is a new large scale tactical military FPS developed by BULKHEAD and published by Team17. It officially entered Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026, so it is now available on PC.
What Is WARDOGS?
WARDOGS focuses on all out warfare rather than traditional small team FPS matches. Up to 100 players are divided among three teams, with the objective of controlling a dynamically selected combat zone.
Three Teams and One Control Zone
The main mode is inspired by King of the Hill. Three teams compete for a randomized 2×2 km Control Zone inside a much larger 256 km² battlefield. The team controlling the zone earns points, with the first team to reach 100 points winning the match.
Tactical Combat and Destruction
The game combines infantry combat with vehicles, construction and environmental destruction. Players can build battlefield structures and use the changing environment to support attacks or defenses. This is designed to make each match play differently.
Cash-Based Loadout System
One of WARDOGS' biggest differences is its persistent cash economy. Players begin their WARDOGS journey with $10,000 and spend money on weapons, equipment, utilities and vehicles for their lives in battle. Teamplay actions can also generate cash.
Eastern European Setting
The game takes place across a large military environment featuring derelict industrial areas and mountains in Eastern Europe. Its sandbox design combines infantry, vehicles and tactical positioning across the battlefield.
Release Date and Price
WARDOGS launched in Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026. The standard Steam edition is listed at $39.99, while a Supporter Edition is listed at $49.99.
Console Release
The current launch is focused on Windows PC through Steam. Recent reporting says Xbox and PlayStation versions are planned for 2028, although specific console and crossplay details have not yet been fully confirmed.
