Yamaha has officially launched its highly anticipated premium maxi-scooter, the Yamaha Aerox-E. Built for riders who crave sporty dynamics over standard commuting, this high-performance e-scooter blends track-inspired DNA with cutting-edge electric mobility.

The launch marks a bold move by Yamaha to target the premium electric vehicle (EV) segment. It brings a legendary performance brand directly into the electric era.

Price, Booking Details, and Initial City Rollout

Yamaha has positioned the Aerox-E as a premium offering with an introductory price tag ranging between ₹2.81 Lakh and ₹2.82 Lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing places it at the apex of the Indian premium e-scooter market, catering directly to performance enthusiasts.

If you are eager to get your hands on one, official online bookings are live. You can secure a scooter through Yamaha's website or select premium "Blue Square" dealerships for a token booking amount of ₹2,000.

Because this is a specialized premium rollout, retail availability is initially limited to five major urban hubs:

  • New Delhi.
  • Mumbai.
  • Bengaluru.
  • Pune.
  • Chennai.

At launch, the Aerox-E is available in a striking Bluish White Cocktail paint scheme. The clean white base is paired with vibrant cyber-blue accents to highlight its futuristic, zero-emission powertrain.

Aggressive Maxi-Scooter Design and Aesthetics

True to its lineage, the e-scooter adopts Yamaha's signature "Heart-Shaking Speedster" design philosophy. It retains the iconic, aggressive maxi-scooter silhouette made famous by the petrol-powered Aerox 155. The sharp bodywork, athletic proportions, and muscular side panels ensure it looks fast even when standing still.

A central "X" Center Motif dominates the front fascia, creating a cohesive bridge between the fairings. The premium lighting setup is fully LED, featuring sharp Dual-LED Class-D headlights, high-visibility LED flashers, and a distinctive 3D-effect LED taillight that leaves a memorable impression on the road.

Electric Motor Performance and Riding Modes

The heart of this machine is a mid-drive Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). This high-output motor generates a peak power of 9.4 kW (equivalent to roughly 12.6 bhp) and a massive 48 Nm of instant torque, allowing it to easily pull ahead of standard city traffic.

To manage this power, Yamaha provides three distinct riding modes that adjust throttle response and efficiency:

Eco Mode: Optimizes battery consumption for maximum efficiency in heavy traffic.

Standard Mode: Balances daily commuting usable power with predictable range.

Power Mode: Unlocks aggressive, rapid-fire acceleration and allows the scooter to reach its official top speed of 95.5 km/h.

For tight situations, Yamaha has packed in a dedicated Boost Mode, which delivers a brief timed spike in motor output for effortless highway overtaking. A convenient Reverse Assist function is also standard, making parking maneuvers simple.

Smart Dual-Battery Setup and Charging Behavior

Energy is managed by an innovative dual-battery ecosystem. The scooter houses two removable 1.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery packs, combining for a total capacity of 3 kWh. On a single full charge, the system provides an official Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range of 117 kilometers. For peace of mind, Yamaha includes a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty on the battery packs.

Charging Times

Single Battery │ 3 Hours, 10 Minutes

Dual Batteries │ 6 Hours, 20 Minutes

The removable design features ergonomic grips, making it easy to carry the batteries indoors to charge via a standard home outlet. Furthermore, the Aerox-E features smart single-battery operation. If one battery is depleted, you can leave it home to charge and continue riding on the remaining pack, though the vehicle will operate at throttled performance levels.

Heavy-Duty Chassis, Suspension, and Safety Tech

The conversion to electric power has altered the scooter's physical footprint. The Aerox-E tips the scales with a kerb weight of 139 kg, which is roughly 13 kg heavier than its internal combustion engine (ICE) sibling. To handle the extra weight, Yamaha tweaked the chassis ergonomics for a committed, highly engaging riding posture.

The e-scooter rides on large 14-inch alloy wheels fitted with a wide 110/80-section tire upfront and a massive 140/70-section tire at the rear. This wide footprint works in tandem with a reliable suspension setup consisting of telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers to offer excellent cornering stability.

Safety Hardware Breakdown

• Front Braking: Hydraulic Disc with Single-Channel ABS

• Rear Braking: Hydraulic Disc Brake

• Electronic Aid: Traction Control System (TCS) as standard

The inclusion of a Traction Control System (TCS) alongside front and rear disc brakes ensures the instant electric torque won't cause wheel slip on wet or loose urban surfaces.

Connected TFT Cockpit and Practicality Compromises

The standard cockpit is replaced by a premium 5-inch full-color TFT display that acts as the vehicle’s central command center. It features built-in Bluetooth connectivity powered by Yamaha’s Y-Connect mobile app.

This system provides a wealth of live data directly to the rider:

Turn-by-turn navigation map updates.

Localized weather alerts.

Call, SMS, and communication notifications.

Maintenance reminders and vehicle health logs.

Last parked location tracker.

While tech and performance are class-leading, the e-scooter requires a minor compromise in daily utility. Because the dual removable batteries are mounted directly under the saddle, the under-seat luggage capacity drops down to 15 liters, compared to the 24.5 liters found on the petrol version. However, an externally mounted charging port ensures you rarely need to open the seat just to plug the vehicle into a wall.

Yamaha Aerox-E hits the Indian market with sharp maxi-scooter styling, 9.4 kW peak power, and a 117 km IDC range.
