Bajaj Chetak C2501 Overview

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 electric scooter has entered the Indian electric scooter market as the most affordable model in the updated Chetak family. Designed mainly for daily city commuting, the new scooter brings a fresh platform, practical features, and a competitive price while maintaining the iconic Chetak styling.

With a lightweight design, improved storage space, modern safety features, and a certified range of 113 km, the C2501 aims to attract riders looking for an easy-to-own electric scooter for urban travel.

Launch Date, Price and Availability

Bajaj officially launched the Bajaj Chetak C2501 electric scooter in India on 14 January 2026. The scooter carries a standard ex-showroom price of ₹91,399, including the PM E-Drive subsidy.

However, Bajaj has also introduced a price reduction along with dealer-level promotional offers. As a result, buyers in major cities such as Bengaluru and Delhi can purchase the scooter for around ₹87,100 (ex-showroom).

Bookings are now open across India through authorised Bajaj dealerships and supported online delivery platforms.

Customers can choose from six attractive colour options:

Misty Yellow.

Opalescent Silver.

Active Black.

Racing Red.

Classic White.

Ocean Teal.

Fresh Design with Larger Storage Space

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 scooter continues the brand's well-known retro-inspired styling while introducing a more compact and modern appearance. Its updated proportions make it better suited for navigating busy city streets.

To reduce overall weight, Bajaj has used a hybrid body construction. The scooter features steel panels for key body sections such as the front apron and side structure, while the front fender is made from durable high-grade plastic.

Lighting has also received an update. The front indicators are now integrated into the handlebar cowl, while the rear gets a new full-width "Ice-cube" LED tail lamp instead of the previous split-light design.

Practicality has improved as well. The scooter now offers a spacious 25-litre under-seat storage compartment, large enough to accommodate a full-face helmet. An additional open glove compartment at the front provides extra convenience for carrying everyday essentials.

Hub Motor Delivers Smooth City Performance

Unlike the higher-end Chetak variants that use swingarm-mounted mid-drive motors, the Bajaj Chetak C2501 scooter adopts Bajaj's first in-wheel BLDC hub motor. This setup helps reduce manufacturing costs while delivering smooth performance for everyday commuting.

The electric motor produces 1.8 kW of continuous power and reaches 2.2 kW at peak output, while generating up to 62 Nm of torque for responsive acceleration in city traffic.

Bajaj has also increased the scooter's electronically limited top speed from 55 km/h to 60 km/h through a software update, making it more suitable for urban roads.

Riders can switch between two riding modes:

Eco Mode for maximum battery efficiency.

Sport Mode for quicker throttle response and improved performance.

Battery, Range and Charging Performance

Powering the scooter is a 2.5 kWh Lithium-Ion (NMC) battery pack positioned beneath the floorboard. This placement lowers the scooter's centre of gravity and contributes to improved balance during riding.

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 electric scooter offers an IDC-certified riding range of 113 km on a full charge. Under typical city riding conditions, users can expect a practical real-world range of around 75 km to 85 km, depending on riding style, traffic, terrain, and weather conditions.

Charging is handled through a 750W off-board charger. According to the provided specifications, the battery charges from 0% to 80% in approximately 2 hours and 25 minutes, while a complete charge takes around 3.5 hours.

Braking, Suspension and Safety Features

Bajaj has equipped the Chetak C2501 scooter with safety equipment that stands out in the entry-level electric scooter segment.

The scooter features a front disc brake combined with a rear drum brake, supported by a Combined Braking System (CBS) to improve braking stability.

The suspension setup has also changed. Instead of the older single-sided trailing arm design, the scooter now uses telescopic front forks along with twin rear shock absorbers for a more comfortable ride over uneven roads.

The battery and motor assembly carry an IP67 rating, offering protection against dust and water. Bajaj has also included a roll-over detection sensor, which automatically cuts motor power if the scooter falls over.

With 170 mm of ground clearance, the scooter is designed to handle speed breakers and rough road surfaces with greater confidence.

Lightweight Body Makes Daily Riding Easier

One of the biggest highlights of the Bajaj Chetak C2501 is its significantly lower weight.

The scooter has a kerb weight of just 107 kg, making it around 22 kg lighter than several higher Chetak variants. The reduced weight improves manoeuvrability, simplifies parking, and makes low-speed riding easier for everyday users.

Accessibility has also been considered. The 763 mm seat height allows riders of different heights to sit comfortably, while the 650 mm long seat provides enough space for both rider and passenger.

Final Verdict

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 electric scooter brings together affordability, practicality, and everyday usability in a compact electric scooter package. Its lightweight construction, 113 km certified range, front disc brake, spacious 25-litre storage, and updated suspension make it well suited for urban commuters.

With competitive pricing, modern safety features, and optional smart connectivity through the TecPac package, the Chetak C2501 strengthens Bajaj's electric scooter lineup while offering buyers an accessible entry point into electric mobility.
