PlayStation Plus May 2026 lineup showing EA Sports FC 26, Red Dead Redemption 2, and PS Plus price increase announcement

Sony has officially increased the price of select PlayStation Plus Essential plans while also rolling out a major batch of new games for May 2026. The changes went live on May 20 and affect several regions worldwide, including India and Turkey.

PlayStation players are getting access to a strong lineup of new titles across the Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers. From blockbuster sports games to action RPGs and classic shooters, this month’s catalog update is one of the biggest in recent months.

Sony Raises PS Plus Essential Subscription Prices

Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed that the PlayStation Plus Essential tier is getting more expensive for shorter-term plans. According to the company, the increase is linked to “ongoing market conditions.”

Here are the updated prices now in effect:

1-Month Plan:
$10.99 / £7.99 / €9.99

3-Month Plan:
$27.99 / £21.99 / €27.99

Previously, the 1-month membership cost $9.99 in the US, £6.99 in the UK, and €8.99 in Europe. The new pricing marks another increase in subscription costs for PlayStation users.

Sony has not changed the pricing for the 12-month Essential plan or the higher Extra and Premium tiers at this time.

Existing Subscribers Get Partial Protection

The price hike mainly affects new subscribers and users returning after their memberships expired. Existing active members will continue paying their current rates as long as their subscription remains active without interruption.

However, there is one important exception.

Sony confirmed that all active subscribers in India and Turkey will automatically move to the new pricing structure regardless of their current status. This means users in those countries cannot keep older rates even if their memberships are already active.

The move has already triggered mixed reactions online, especially from players who rely on shorter monthly plans instead of yearly subscriptions.

PS Plus Essential Games for May 2026 Are Now Live

Alongside the price update, Sony also released the latest monthly free games for PS Plus Essential members. Subscribers can claim these titles until June 1, 2026.

Available Games This Month

EA Sports FC 26 (PS5, PS4)
Includes an exclusive PS Plus Icons Pack for subscribers.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers (PS5)

Nine Sols (PS5, PS4)

This month’s lineup offers a mix of sports, fast-paced action, and challenging combat-focused gameplay. Many players are especially excited about EA Sports FC 26 joining the service so early after launch.

Extra and Premium Catalog Gets Major Additions

Sony also refreshed the PS Plus Extra and Premium game catalog globally on May 19, 2026. Several popular games and returning fan favorites are now available to download.

New PS Plus Extra and Premium Titles

  • Star Wars Outlaws (PS5 via Ubisoft+ Classics)

  • Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4)

  • Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn (PS5)

  • The Thaumaturge (PS5)

  • Bramble: The Mountain King (PS5, PS4)

  • Enotria: The Last Song (PS5, PS4)

  • Broken Sword – Shadows of the Templar: Reforged (PS5, PS4)

Premium subscribers also received access to:

  • Time Crisis (PS5, PS4)

The classic arcade shooter now includes updated gyro aiming support, giving modern players a smoother experience on current hardware.

Several Games Are Leaving PS Plus Soon

Sony has also started rotating games out of the service.

A large batch of titles left the catalog on May 19, including:

Control Ultimate Edition
Mortal Shell

More games are expected to leave in mid-June 2026, although Sony has not officially revealed the complete list yet.

This rotating catalog system has become a regular part of the PlayStation Plus experience, encouraging players to complete games before they disappear from the service.

PS Plus Faces Growing Competition in 2026

The latest price increase comes during a highly competitive period for gaming subscriptions. Services like Xbox Game Pass and Ubisoft+ continue expanding their libraries with day-one releases and exclusive content.

Sony appears focused on balancing rising operational costs while keeping PlayStation Plus attractive through bigger monthly game drops. The addition of titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Star Wars Outlaws shows the company is still investing heavily in content partnerships.

For players, the overall value of PS Plus in 2026 may now depend on how often they use the service and which tier fits their gaming habits best.
