What is Xbox Free Open-World Games Event?
Microsoft regularly offers free trials, but this latest Xbox free open-world games event is much bigger than usual. It expands on the classic Free Play Days program by offering a stacked lineup of popular Ubisoft titles.
For a limited time, you can explore massive virtual worlds, fight space battles, or race across tropical islands completely for free.
The Big Catch You Need to Know
While you can download these titles right now, the Xbox free open-world games lineup comes with a strict time limit. The catch is that these games are only free for a very short weekend window.
The entire event expires at the end of Sunday, October 4, 2026. Because these are sprawling, multi-hour campaigns, players face a tight crunch to finish them.
No Xbox Game Pass Required
Usually, you need an active subscription to access these kinds of perks. However, for this specific Xbox free open-world games promotion, no Xbox Game Pass membership is required.
Any Xbox console owner can head to the store, download the games, and start playing immediately. This opens up the event to all gamers globally.
Every Game Included in the Lineup
Ubisoft has brought some of its biggest franchises to this Xbox free open-world games event. The five featured titles include:
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
- Far Cry 6
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
- Skull and Bones
- The Crew Motorfest
Whether you love historical RPGs, tactical shooters, or racing simulators, there is something here for everyone.
Full Campaign Access and No Caps
You might worry that these Xbox free open-world games are just short demos. Thankfully, Microsoft and Ubisoft have confirmed there are no progress caps.
You can unlock the full maps and progress as far into the story as your time allows before the Sunday deadline hits.
