Jaguar has officially revealed the Jaguar Type 01, a new all-electric four-door grand tourer designed to start a major new chapter for the British luxury car brand. Revealed in New York, the Jaguar Type 01 combines a dramatic design with strong electric performance, advanced technology and long-distance touring capability.

The new Jaguar is also the first production model built on the company’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). Jaguar says the Type 01 is its most powerful, aerodynamic and technologically advanced road car so far.

Jaguar Type 01 Power and Performance

The Jaguar Type 01 uses a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system. It produces up to 1,030 PS, giving the car serious performance for a luxury GT.

Jaguar claims a 0 to 62 mph time of up to 3.2 seconds. Intelligent torque vectoring helps manage the available power, while four-corner air suspension, active dampers and all-wheel steering are designed to provide a balance between comfort and control.

The stiff integrated body and battery structure also help create a low centre of gravity and a 50:50 weight distribution.

Jaguar Type 01 Range and Charging

Long-distance driving is another major focus of the Jaguar Type 01. The company lists up to 450 miles of WLTP range, while its US specification targets more than 400 miles under the EPA test cycle.

The Jaguar uses an 850-volt electrical architecture and supports charging at up to 350 kW. Jaguar says a 10% to 80% charge can take as little as 22 minutes.

Under suitable conditions, the Jaguar Type 01 can add up to 200 miles of range in around 13 minutes. Its thermal management system is also designed to help maintain battery efficiency in different climates.

Bold Jaguar Design

The exterior gives the Jaguar Type 01 a very different appearance from previous production models. It features a long bonnet, low roofline, large 23-inch wheels and a wide, clean body shape.

The design takes inspiration from historic Jaguar models, including the E-Type and XJS, while introducing a new visual language for the electric era. A distinctive Strikethrough graphic runs across the body, while the rear uses a glassless tailgate and hidden spoiler.

The Jaguar Type 01 also uses concealed sensors and hidden door handles to maintain its smooth exterior surfaces.

Jaguar Type 01 Interior and Technology

Inside, the Jaguar Type 01 focuses on a four-seat grand tourer layout.

Inside, the Jaguar Type 01 focuses on a four-seat grand tourer layout. A central spine runs through the cabin and creates individual spaces for the four occupants. The low seating position is intended to reinforce the car's sporty GT character.

The dashboard is equipped with a prominent 24-inch OLED screen, complemented by an additional 7-inch touchscreen dedicated to controls. The Jaguar also offers wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, 5G Wi-Fi and wireless device charging.

A ClearSight digital rear-view display replaces the traditional mirror, while a 3D surround camera provides additional visibility.

Comfort Meets Luxury

The Jaguar Type 01 is not focused only on speed. Its cabin uses premium materials, a panoramic roof and configurable cabin moods.

Jaguar also offers a Meridian panoramic sound system, Active Road Noise Cancellation and sensory audio features. Front seats can include hot-stone massage, adding to the car's luxury-focused character.

There is also more than 450 litres of combined loadspace, with additional hidden storage and folding rear seats for larger items.

Jaguar Type 01 Price and Availability

The Jaguar Type 01 starts at £129,950 on the road in the UK, according to Jaguar's current website. The Design Vision version starts at £144,950.

In the US, reports put the starting price at around $130,500.

Orders are scheduled to open in early 2027, with the first customer deliveries expected in the second half of 2027. Production will take place in the UK, with manufacturing planned at JLR's Solihull operations.

A New Direction for Jaguar

The Jaguar Type 01 represents more than a new electric car. Jaguar's first production model constructed on the JEA platform sets the groundwork for the brand's upcoming generation of electric vehicles.

Even the name has a purpose. “Type” connects with Jaguar's historic naming tradition, “0” represents zero tailpipe emissions, and “1” identifies it as the first model of this new generation.

With its high performance, long range, distinctive design and premium technology, the Jaguar Type 01 signals a major shift for Jaguar. The car is expected to become a key part of the brand's global electric strategy when deliveries begin in 2027.
