Story and Main Character

The story takes place in Paris in 1499, where monstrous creatures invade the city and threaten its inhabitants.

Players follow Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, as she carries on the Belmont family's tradition of hunting supernatural enemies. Armed with the legendary Vampire Killer whip, she explores dangerous streets, underground areas and Dracula's castle while uncovering a dark conspiracy.

The story is set 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, connecting the new adventure to the franchise's established history.

Gameplay and Combat Features

The game combines traditional side scrolling with exploration, platforming and faster combat. Konami's official materials confirm several important gameplay systems.

Whip-based Movement

Is Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Worth Trying?

The game looks particularly relevant to players who enjoy classic Castlevania adventures, exploration-heavy platformers and challenging boss fights. Its whip-based movement and tarot-card abilities also give it systems beyond straightforward side-scrolling combat.

The strongest reason to try it before buying is the free demo. It allows you to experience the controls and opening stages yourself rather than relying only on trailers.

One Important Distinction

As of October 14, the full game has not yet reached its officially announced release date. Pre-release impressions are not the same as a complete review of the final release.
