Developed by Expression Games and published by Team17, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam brings players straight into the brutal and unforgiving conflicts of the Vietnam War.

Fans of historical military simulations have eagerly anticipated this launch, which drops players directly into intense, large-scale combat environments where personal glory takes a backseat to squad survival.

Release Date and Platform Availability

Following a brief delay from its initial June window, the game officially launched on August 13, 2026. Players around the globe can jump into the action right now across multiple platforms. It is fully available on PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store.

Console players are fully included as well, with optimized versions ready for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5 Technology

To capture the claustrophobic and dense atmosphere of Southeast Asian battlegrounds, the developers built the entire experience using cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5 technology. This powerful engine allows for dynamic lighting, detailed foliage, and realistic physics that completely change how players interact with their surroundings.

Every bush, riverbank, and ruined structure plays a critical role in tactical positioning, pushing modern hardware to deliver breathtaking immersion.

Hardcore 50v50 Tactical Multiplayer Action

At its heart, the game focuses heavily on large-scale multiplayer battles. It features a hardcore 50v50 tactical multiplayer framework where individual kill-death ratios matter far less than overall team coordination and communication. Success relies on following a clear chain of command, listening to squad leaders, and working together to capture strategic ground.

Casual run-and-gun tactics will quickly lead to failure, making disciplined teamwork the ultimate weapon on this digital battlefield.

Factions and Detailed Class Structures

The conflict pits the powerful United States Armed Forces directly against the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and Viet Cong forces. To manage these massive armies efficiently, the game introduces a deep class structure.

There are 17 specialized roles distributed evenly across 6 distinct battlefield units: Command, Infantry, Recon, Armour, Mortar Squad, and Helicopter units. Each role has a specific job, ensuring that every player feels essential to the overarching war effort.

Unique Asymmetrical Warfare Mechanics

One of the most exciting aspects of this release is how it handles asymmetrical warfare. Because both sides fought differently in real history, the gameplay reflects those distinct tactical advantages. US forces have access to fully operational helicopters for fast troop transport, critical logistics support, and devastating aerial fire.

Meanwhile, NVA forces can construct and link extensive tunnel networks across the map, allowing for stealthy flanking maneuvers and rapid respawns behind enemy lines. Furthermore, both factions can utilize heavily armed patrol boats to navigate complex river systems and control crucial waterways.

Six Launch Maps Based on Real Historical Sites

Variety is key to keeping tactical shooters fresh, and the game delivers with 6 large-scale maps right out of the gate. Every location is carefully inspired by historical engagements and real-world geography.

Players will fight through the urban streets of Huế during the Tet Offensive, battle across Operation Starlite (Vạn Tường), and struggle for dominance at the Battle of Đắk Tô. Additional maps include the vital Cam Ranh logistics port, the rugged terrain of Quảng Ngãi, and the strategic location of Thanh Hoa.

Dynamic Multiplayer Game Modes: Warfare and Offensive

To keep the momentum going, the game features two distinct and engaging multiplayer game modes. The Warfare mode functions as a traditional 50v50 tug-of-war where teams fight over five distinct sectors across matches that can last up to 90 minutes.

Alternatively, the Offensive mode offers an asymmetrical experience where one side attacks while the other defends under a strict 30-minute timer. These modes ensure that every match feels completely different, demanding adaptability and sharp tactical thinking from all participants.
