Toyota Hilux Overview
The 2026 Toyota Hilux has officially arrived in India with a fresh design, upgraded cabin technology and a new entry-level 4x2 option. The latest Hilux starts at ₹31.99 lakh ex-showroom, while the top version is priced at ₹36.69 lakh.
The new model continues the Hilux formula of combining pickup practicality with strong diesel performance and off-road capability. At the same time, Toyota is expanding the Hilux globally with diesel, electrified and fully electric powertrains.
2026 Toyota Hilux Price and Variants
Toyota presents the new Hilux in India solely as a Double Cab pickup, available in GX and VX variants.
The GX 4x2 AT costs ₹31.99 lakh, while the GX 4x4 AT is priced at ₹33.69 lakh. Buyers looking for the highest specification can choose the VX 4x4 AT at ₹36.69 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
The addition of the GX 4x2 AT is important because buyers can now choose a rear-wheel-drive Hilux if they do not need the full 4WD system.
Bookings are open online and through Toyota dealerships. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second week of August 2026.
Familiar 2.8-Litre Diesel Engine Continues
Under the bonnet, the India-spec 2026 Toyota Hilux uses a 2.8-litre BS6 Phase 2 turbo-diesel engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The engine produces 150 kW, or around 204 PS, and 500 Nm of torque. Toyota also provides an 80-litre fuel tank, making the pickup suitable for longer journeys.
The 4x4 versions add hardware aimed at difficult terrain, including four-wheel drive and an electronic differential lock.
New Hilux Gets Tougher Exterior Styling
The latest Hilux receives a significant visual makeover while maintaining its rugged pickup character.
At the front, it features slim LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, a honeycomb-style grille and prominent TOYOTA lettering. A redesigned bumper, wide air intakes, skid plate and LED fog lights strengthen its road presence.
The side profile includes black wheel-arch cladding, 17-inch alloy wheels, roll bars and a footboard. Electrically adjustable and retractable outside mirrors are also offered.
Cabin Gets More Technology and Comfort
Toyota has also modernised the interior. The new-generation Hilux moves toward a more digital cabin while retaining controls designed for practical everyday use.
Toyota says the wider global model draws inspiration from the Land Cruiser, with improvements to comfort, technology and perceived quality. The India model also introduces connected features and updated safety technology.
These changes should make the Hilux more suitable for buyers who use their pickup both for daily driving and longer trips.
Hilux Remains Built for Tough Conditions
Despite the technology upgrades, Toyota has kept the Hilux focused on durability. The Indian model is built on an IMV ladder-frame platform, giving it the structural layout expected from a serious pickup.
The latest design embraces Toyota's "Tough and Agile" philosophy, with the Hilux being crafted based on insights gathered from customers worldwide.
Toyota Hilux Goes Electric in Global Markets
The biggest change to the global Hilux family is electrification. The ninth-generation range includes the first battery-electric Hilux, alongside a 2.8-litre Diesel 48V model in markets such as the UK and Europe.
In the UK, prices start from £42,845 on-the-road for the Diesel 48V, while the Hilux BEV starts at £57,845. BEV customer deliveries began from mid-June 2026, followed by Diesel 48V deliveries from July.
Toyota has also confirmed a hydrogen fuel-cell Hilux, currently scheduled to arrive in 2028. This shows how Toyota plans to offer different Hilux powertrains depending on market requirements.
