The budget smartphone market in India has seen another major price revision. Xiaomi has increased the prices of two popular Redmi smartphones, the Redmi Note 15 5G and Redmi 15 5G smartphone. The sudden hike has surprised many users, especially buyers looking for affordable 5G devices.
According to recent reports, some variants of both smartphones have become costlier by as much as ₹2,000. The updated prices are already visible on Xiaomi’s official India website, although the company has not yet released an official statement explaining the increase.
Redmi Note 15 5G Now Costs More

What makes this more noticeable is that the smartphone has already received previous price revisions since launch. Reports suggest the Redmi Note 15 5G smartphone is now around ₹4,000 more expensive compared to its original launch price in India.
This change could affect buyers who were waiting for festive sales or planning to upgrade to a mid range 5G phone at a lower budget.

The price increase is not limited to the Note series. Xiaomi has also revised the pricing of the Redmi 15 5G smartphone models.

Why Are Smartphone Prices Increasing?
Although Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the reason behind the latest price hike, industry experts believe rising global component costs are a major factor.
Reports indicate that RAM and chipset prices have increased worldwide due to growing demand from AI data centers and cloud computing companies. As artificial intelligence infrastructure expands rapidly, memory and semiconductor supplies are facing pressure. This is reportedly affecting smartphone manufacturers, including brands focused on budget devices.
The shortage of certain components is also making production more expensive, which eventually impacts retail prices.
Budget Smartphone Buyers May Feel the Pressure
India’s budget smartphone segment has always been highly competitive, with brands trying to offer better features at aggressive prices. However, rising hardware costs are slowly changing that trend.
For consumers, this means affordable 5G smartphones may continue getting more expensive in the coming months. Buyers looking for value focused devices could now start comparing deals more carefully before making a purchase.
With AI technology expanding globally and component demand rising, the smartphone market may witness more pricing changes across multiple brands soon.
