2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift spied testing with connected LED tail lamps and new alloy wheels

Maruti Suzuki Preparing a Big Brezza Upgrade for 2026

The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift is shaping up to be one of the biggest updates ever given to the compact SUV. Fresh spy shots from the Delhi Dehradun Expressway have revealed several major mechanical and cosmetic changes that push the Brezza much closer to premium rivals in the segment.

The heavily camouflaged test mule was recently spotted testing alongside another mysterious electric vehicle that is believed to be Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming YMC electric MPV based on the eVX architecture. While the company has not officially confirmed the details yet, multiple technical leaks now give a clear picture of what buyers can expect from the 2026 Brezza facelift.

The SUV is expected to arrive in India around July 2026, just before the festive season begins.

New Exterior Design Gives the Brezza a Sharper Road Presence

The facelifted Brezza receives several styling revisions aimed at giving the SUV a wider and more premium appearance. The rear section now features connected LED tail lamps replacing the older split style lighting setup. This change gives the SUV a more modern identity similar to newer global SUVs.

At the front, the updated bumper design and sharper grille pattern appear inspired by Maruti Suzuki’s latest utility vehicle lineup. The LED headlamp clusters also look slimmer and more aggressive than before.

The side profile gains thicker body cladding and newly designed 16 inch alloy wheels with a swirl inspired diamond cut finish. Spy images also suggest chrome detailing around the fog lamp housing and side profile to create a more upscale look.

Dual tone ORVMs with integrated turn indicators are expected to become standard on higher trims.

Biggest Highlight Is the New Underbody CNG Tank Layout

One of the most important engineering changes in the 2026 Brezza facelift is the relocation of the factory fitted CNG cylinder.

Current CNG versions of the Brezza sacrifice most of their luggage space because the cylinder sits inside the boot area. The facelift solves this long standing problem by moving the CNG tank underneath the vehicle floor.

This underbody setup restores the complete 328 litre boot space while maintaining the same 55 litre water equivalent CNG capacity. Buyers will finally be able to enjoy high fuel efficiency without compromising luggage practicality.

This change could become a major selling point because no direct rival currently offers such a setup in the compact SUV category.

New Turbo Petrol Engine Could Make the Brezza More Fun to Drive

The current 1.5 litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine will continue in the updated Brezza lineup. This motor produces 101.6 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque and remains focused on reliability and fuel economy.

However, the biggest performance news is the possible arrival of Maruti Suzuki’s 1.0 litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine. Borrowed from the Fronx performance lineup, this engine produces 100 bhp and 147 Nm of torque.

While the power figures may appear similar on paper, the turbocharged motor is expected to deliver much stronger mid range acceleration and quicker overtaking ability.

The addition of a smaller turbo petrol engine may also help Maruti Suzuki benefit from lower taxation rules applicable to sub 1200cc engines in India.

New 6 Speed Manual Gearbox Improves Highway Driving

Spy shots of the cabin confirm another major mechanical update. The facelifted Brezza is expected to replace its current 5 speed manual gearbox with a new 6 speed transmission.

This update is important because the extra gear helps reduce engine RPM during highway cruising. Lower RPM usually means better fuel efficiency, smoother long distance driving, and lower cabin noise levels.

The automatic version is likely to continue with a 6 speed torque converter setup.

For buyers who frequently travel on highways, this could become one of the most noticeable real world improvements in the new Brezza.

Cabin Gets Larger Touchscreen and Premium Features

Inside the cabin, the 2026 Brezza facelift receives a major technology overhaul.

The current 9 inch infotainment system is replaced by a larger 10.25 inch freestanding touchscreen unit featuring an updated SmartPlay Pro Plus interface. The new system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The dashboard layout has been redesigned with updated climate controls and cleaner center console integration. Maruti is also expected to introduce sharper graphics for the digital driver display.

Comfort upgrades include ventilated front seats, premium leatherette upholstery, improved dashboard materials, and an electrically adjustable driver seat on top variants.

The SUV is also expected to retain popular features such as the heads up display, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charging pad, and electric sunroof.

Overall, the interior now feels more aligned with rivals like the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.

Safety Features Expand With Better Parking Assistance

Safety equipment on the new Brezza facelift is expected to improve significantly.

The SUV is likely to continue with ventilated front disc brakes and rear drum brakes while electronic safety systems such as ABS, EBD, ESP, and Hill Hold Assist remain standard.

Spy shots also confirm the addition of front parking sensors combined with a 360 degree surround camera system. These upgrades should make parking in crowded urban areas much easier.

There are also strong rumors about Level 2 ADAS technology being offered on higher trims. Expected features may include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

However, recent test vehicles have not shown clear radar or camera hardware usually associated with advanced ADAS systems. This means Maruti Suzuki could still be fine tuning the technology before launch.

Mileage Figures Continue to Be a Strong Selling Point

Fuel efficiency remains one of the Brezza’s strongest advantages.

The updated 1.5 litre petrol manual variant is expected to deliver around 19.5 to 20.1 kmpl under ARAI testing conditions. Real world combined efficiency could range between 15 and 17 kmpl.

The 1.5 litre petrol automatic version may return around 19.8 kmpl officially.

The factory fitted S CNG model continues to lead in fuel economy with a claimed efficiency of 25.51 km per kg. Real world driving could deliver around 20 to 22 km per kg depending on conditions.

Meanwhile, the upcoming 1.0 litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine is expected to offer around 20 to 21.5 kmpl while still delivering stronger performance.

Expected Price and Launch Timeline in India

The 2026 Brezza facelift is expected to receive a modest price increase because of the upgraded gearbox, larger infotainment screen, premium cabin features, and structural CNG modifications.

The base petrol variant could start around ₹8.50 lakh ex showroom, while fully loaded turbo petrol automatic trims may reach approximately ₹14 lakh.

The SUV is expected to launch in India around July 2026 ahead of the festive buying season.

Can the 2026 Brezza Become the Segment Leader Again

The upcoming Brezza facelift appears to be much more than a cosmetic update. Maruti Suzuki is clearly trying to transform the Brezza into a more premium, tech rich, and performance oriented compact SUV while still keeping ownership costs under control.

The underbody CNG setup alone could become a segment changing innovation because it directly solves one of the biggest compromises faced by Indian CNG buyers.

Combined with a possible turbo petrol engine, 6 speed manual gearbox, upgraded cabin technology, and premium comfort features, the 2026 Brezza facelift may finally offer the balance of efficiency, practicality, and driving enjoyment that many buyers have been waiting for.
