Mahindra is preparing several new SUVs and EVs with updated styling, improved safety, premium interiors, and fresh technology features for the Indian market in 2026.
Indian SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing for a busy year in the auto market with updated SUVs, new electric vehicles, and fresh technology upgrades across its portfolio. Over the last few months, the company has continued to strengthen its position in India’s SUV segment, and recent developments suggest that Mahindra is focusing heavily on design improvements, advanced safety systems, connected technology, and better driving performance.
Mahindra Focusing Strongly on New SUV Launches
Recent reports indicate that Mahindra is planning multiple SUV launches between 2026 and 2027. These include facelift versions of the Scorpio N, Thar, and XUV lineup, along with completely new products based on the company’s NU_IQ platform. Industry reports also suggest that Mahindra aims to introduce up to 16 SUVs by 2031, including both internal combustion and electric models.
Among the most talked-about upcoming models is the Mahindra Scorpio N facelift, which is expected to receive revised styling, upgraded cabin features, and new technology additions. The Mahindra XUV 7XO, which replaces the earlier XUV700 naming strategy, is also drawing attention due to its refreshed design and updated interiors.
Exterior Design Changes Expected Across Upcoming Models
Mahindra appears to be moving toward a sharper and more premium SUV design language. Spy reports and industry previews suggest that future Mahindra SUVs may include redesigned front grilles, connected LED lighting, revised bumpers, and new alloy wheel designs.
The upcoming XUV 7XO is expected to feature slimmer LED headlamps with updated daytime running lights and a cleaner rear profile. Mahindra’s future electric SUVs are also likely to adopt more aerodynamic styling to improve efficiency and range.
Convertible-inspired styling elements are also expected in some lifestyle-focused models, especially future Thar variants and EV concepts. Mahindra has been experimenting with rugged SUV styling combined with modern urban design cues to appeal to younger buyers.
Engine Options and Performance Details
Mahindra is expected to continue offering both petrol and diesel engines in its mainstream SUVs. Reports suggest that the upcoming Scorpio N facelift and XUV 7XO may retain the familiar 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options.
These engines are already known for strong low-end torque and highway performance. Transmission options are likely to include both manual and automatic gearboxes, while selected variants may continue offering four-wheel-drive capability for off-road driving.
The company is also increasing focus on electric mobility. Mahindra’s upcoming EV range is expected to deliver stronger acceleration, smoother city driving, and better battery management systems. New EV platforms under development may also improve weight distribution and driving stability.
Mileage and Driving Efficiency
Fuel efficiency remains an important factor for Indian SUV buyers, and Mahindra appears to be balancing performance with practical mileage figures. Existing reports related to the XUV 7XO suggest mileage figures in the range of around 15 to 17 kmpl depending on the engine and transmission combination.
For electric vehicles, Mahindra is expected to focus on improving driving range and charging efficiency. The company has already expanded its EV portfolio with models such as the BE series, and future launches may offer longer battery range along with faster charging support.

Safety and Braking Features Getting Major Attention
Safety continues to be one of Mahindra’s strongest areas. Several of the company’s SUVs already perform well in crash safety tests, and upcoming vehicles are expected to include additional driver assistance features.
Expected safety upgrades include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, advanced braking systems, hill hold assist, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring, and 360-degree camera systems. Premium variants may also include Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control and lane assist technology.
Mahindra’s future EV architecture is also being designed with structural safety improvements and battery protection systems in mind.
Interior and Technology Upgrades
Mahindra is working aggressively on cabin technology and connected car features. The upcoming XUV 7XO is expected to receive a triple-screen dashboard layout inspired by Mahindra’s electric SUV lineup. This could include a larger infotainment display, digital driver display, and a separate passenger-side screen.
Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof options, premium audio systems, ventilated seats, and connected vehicle technology are also likely to become more common across future Mahindra SUVs.
The company is additionally investing in artificial intelligence integration to improve customer experience, software systems, and vehicle development timelines. Mahindra recently stated that AI-driven systems are helping improve automotive operations and customer engagement.
Price Range and Expected Launch Timeline
Mahindra’s upcoming SUVs are expected to cover multiple price segments. Industry estimates suggest that the Scorpio N facelift could be priced between ₹13 lakh and ₹25 lakh, while the XUV 7XO may remain positioned in the mid-size premium SUV category.
Electric SUVs such as the Thar.e and BE series models are expected to arrive at higher price points because of battery technology and premium equipment levels. Some launches may take place during Mahindra’s annual Independence Day event cycle later in 2026.
Mahindra Strengthening Its Position in India’s SUV Market
Mahindra’s recent sales growth reflects rising demand for SUVs in India. The company recently reported strong quarterly performance, supported by growing SUV sales and plans for production expansion. Industry analysts believe Mahindra’s continued investment in electric vehicles, new platforms, and premium technology could help it strengthen its position further in the coming years.
With new launches, updated safety features, refreshed designs, and expanding EV plans, Mahindra is preparing for a major transformation phase in the Indian automotive market.
