Apple TV is expanding rapidly with new sports streaming deals, smarter tvOS features, premium shows, and rumors of a powerful AI-focused Apple TV Pro.
Apple is pushing Apple TV into a much bigger role in home entertainment with fresh software updates, major sports streaming deals, and growing rumors about powerful new hardware. The platform is evolving beyond a simple streaming box and moving closer to becoming a full entertainment and gaming hub.
tvOS 26.5 Update Rolls Out Worldwide
Apple recently released tvOS 26.5 for both Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K devices. The update mainly focuses on performance improvements, stability fixes, and security enhancements to improve the overall viewing experience.
The company is also improving accessibility. A new Larger Text feature is coming to tvOS, allowing users with low vision to increase onscreen text size for easier navigation. Apple says the feature is designed to make menus and apps easier to read across different screen sizes.
In addition, Apple continues refining personalization features in tvOS 26, including subtitle styling improvements, better audio controls, and expanded AirPlay speaker support.
Apple TV Makes Big Moves in Live Sports
Apple TV reached a major broadcasting milestone after streaming an MLS match filmed entirely using the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro. The event marked one of the first large-scale professional sports broadcasts created fully with smartphone camera technology.

Sports remains a key growth area for Apple. The company also secured a five-year U.S. streaming agreement for Formula 1 coverage on Apple TV. The deal could significantly boost Formula 1’s popularity in the American market as streaming audiences continue to grow.
At the same time, Apple expanded its companion Apple Sports app into more than 90 new countries, helping fans follow scores, stats, and live updates globally.
Apple TV+ Builds a Strong Summer Lineup
Apple TV+ continues focusing on premium original content rather than massive content libraries. New and returning shows such as Star City and Unconditional are helping strengthen the platform’s growing reputation for high-quality productions.
The summer schedule also looks busy. Fans are already waiting for Silo Season 3 on July 3, Sugar Season 2 on June 19, and Dark Matter Season 2 arriving August 28.
“Apple TV Pro” Rumors Continue to Grow
Industry analysts believe Apple is preparing its biggest Apple TV hardware upgrade in years. Reports suggest the next-generation device may replace the current A15 chip with either the A17 Pro or even an M5 processor to support advanced AI-powered Apple Intelligence features.
Leaks also point toward stronger gaming support with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, potentially turning the device into a console-like gaming platform for Apple Arcade users.
Many analysts now expect Apple to preview new AI-focused tvOS features during upcoming announcements later this year.
