Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift spotted testing in India with sharper styling, updated features, and a possible turbo engine, hinting at an exciting upgrade for the popular hatchback.
The updated version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been spotted testing for the first time, hinting that a mid-cycle refresh is on the way. First launched in 2022, the current generation is now due for a visual and feature upgrade. The latest spy shots suggest subtle yet noticeable changes that aim to keep the premium hatchback fresh in a highly competitive segment.
Sharper Front Design and Subtle Exterior Tweaks
The biggest visual update appears at the front. The facelifted Baleno is expected to feature a redesigned grille with a sleeker look, possibly highlighted by a slim chrome strip connecting both headlights. The front bumper also seems to be updated, giving the car a sharper and more modern appearance.
Interestingly, the headlights look similar to the current version, retaining projector LED units with signature DRLs. One noticeable change is the absence of fog lamps in the test model. From the side, the car continues with similar alloy wheels, while the rear design largely remains unchanged, apart from the possibility of a slightly revised bumper and refreshed LED tail lamps.
Interior Likely to Stay Familiar with Minor Upgrades
Inside the cabin, the updates seem more subtle. The overall dashboard layout appears unchanged, continuing with the same clean and practical design seen in the current model. Features like the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, trapezoidal AC vents, and multifunction steering wheel are expected to remain.
However, Maruti could introduce new upholstery, updated trims, and a fresh interior theme to enhance the premium feel. There is also a possibility of adding new features such as ambient lighting or even a sunroof, keeping up with rivals like the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz.

Engine Options May Include Turbo-Petrol
Under the hood, the facelifted Baleno is expected to continue with the familiar 1.2-litre petrol engine and CNG option. These engines are known for their reliability and fuel efficiency, making them popular among buyers.
What makes things interesting is the possibility of adding a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. If introduced, this engine could offer better performance and give the Baleno a stronger edge in the segment.
Features and Equipment Expected to Continue
The facelift model is likely to retain key features such as automatic climate control, a head-up display, and an analogue instrument cluster with a digital display. These features already make the Baleno a well-equipped option in its category.
At the same time, Maruti may add a few modern touches to match evolving customer expectations. Small improvements in materials and finish could also help the car feel more refined.
Expected Launch and Market Competition
While the exact launch timeline is not confirmed yet, the facelifted Baleno is expected to arrive with a slight price increase over the current model. It will continue to compete with strong rivals like the Toyota Glanza, Hyundai i20, and Tata Altroz.
With these updates, Maruti Suzuki seems focused on maintaining the Baleno’s popularity by refining its design, improving features, and possibly adding more powerful engine options.
