Android 17, codenamed "Cinnamon Bun," introduces several significant camera and media enhancements designed to bridge the gap between stock and third-party apps while providing professional-grade tools for developers. 


Key camera features in Android 17 include


Advanced App Integration 


Vendor-Defined Extensions: This major update allows hardware manufacturers (OEMs like Samsung or Google) to share proprietary camera features—such as Super Resolution, astrophotography modes, or AI-driven enhancements—directly with third-party apps like Instagram or Snapchat.


Wider Feature Access: Previously restricted features like specialized low-light algorithms or native 200MP capture can now be surfaced to any app that queries for them. 


Professional Photography and Video


RAW14 Support: Android 17 introduces a new RAW14 image format, allowing professional camera apps to capture 14-bit-per-pixel RAW files for significantly greater color depth and dynamic range.


Versatile Video Coding (VVC/H.266): Support for this modern standard enables higher-quality video at smaller file sizes, improving streaming and recording efficiency.
